Introduction to the Constitution
 
The United States Constitution is one of our founding documents.  The founding documents are the Articles of Association, Articles of Confederation, Declaration of Independence, and the Constitution.  Only one founder signed all four, Roger Sherman.
 
Thomas Jefferson and John Adams were both not at the Constitutional Convention. They heard about it while they were in Europe.  When they read the document, they approved.
 
The Constitution is not merely a document.  The Constitution is not just a set of guidelines. It is not a living and breathing document.  The Constitution is The Law of the Land. It is the contract made by the States to create the federal government.  Anytime the federal government acts against the Constitution, the government is acting unconstitutionally (illegally).
